Wrestlers
The Professional Wrestler
The professional wrestler is the most flamboyant of the lot. He or she inhabits a world that puts less emphasis on the traditional aspects of the sport and more on the dramatic and sensationalistic. This makes for great entertainment for a lot of fans of professional wrestling. The wrestling match in professional wrestling takes place in a boxing ring and not on a traditional wrestling mat. The rules are the same, which is to pin your opponents shoulders to the mat in order to win, but the methods used to get to this point are quite different. Professional wrestling moves are quite dangerous if performed incorrectly. Many kids have seriously hurt themselves trying to replicate these same moves at home. The professional wrestler’s matches are predetermined in advance, but this does not mean that he or she does not know what they are doing once they step into the ring. The moves are very tightly choreographed so that minimum damage to the body can be assured. If some move is not timed correctly, then it could possibly result in a life-altering injury. Many people criticize professional wrestling because it is an easy target. But the wrestlers who take part in this specticle are highly trained and know their craft extremely well.

Sumo Wrestlers
Sumo wrestling is a popular Japanese variation of the sport. It dates as far back as the eighth century AD. The game consists of two very large, some would say overweight, men who try to push each other off of the mat. The first one who is pushed off the mat loses the round. Each sumo wrestler is referred to as rikishi. It has its origins in the Shinto religion. While Japan is most commonly associated with Sumo, other countries such as Mongolia and Hawaii have also taken up the sport. Some of the most famous and accomplished sumo wrestlers earn quite a large salary, as much as $24,000 per month. For the sumo wrestlers who toil in the lower divisions, they very often only receive a small monthly allowance.
Midget Wrestlers
Midget wrestling is one of the most unusal variations of the genre. As unfortunate as this may sound, but many people enjoy the site of seeing two midgets wrestling people. And where there is a demand for something, there is most certainly a need. The WWE recently had a division for wrestlers under five feet that was established in 2005. However, after much criticism is was disbanded in March 2006.
