Adding a slippery and messy substance such as oil makes wrestling more challenging since the individuals cannot grip their opponents or the floor upon which they are competing. In the sport of Turkish oil wrestling, there is rarely a winner or a loser. The point of the match is to sexually arouse and entertain both the spectators and the participants. While Turkish oil wrestling has been around for centuries, modern technology such as the Internet, DVDs and videos have made it especially popular and accessible.
