Arm wrestling is a sport in which two opponents grasp hands, with their arms bent and elbows touching the surface below them. The American Arm Wrestling Association was founded in the late 1960s. In the year 2000, it changed its name to the American Armsport Association. It is comprised of almost five dozen arm wrestling associations throughout the country. The American Armsport Association is a member of the World Armsport Federation which has close to one hundred member countries. The World Armsport Foundation is the governing body for the sport of arm wrestling and it has an annual world event in which athletes from all over the world compete.
